Quadcast

Defect payoff and orb-state check

Quadcast is a Defect-linked card page for separating powerful payoff turns from the support needed to make those turns reliable.

Draft note

A Defect payoff card should be scored by the orb state it actually reaches, not by the best possible screenshot. Quadcast-style picks need enough generation, draw, and defensive cover to make the payoff arrive before the fight window closes.

Defect card pages should show the support that makes an orb payoff reliable.
  • Count orb generation before taking another payoff.
  • Prefer survival cards when the engine is still slow.
  • Raise the card after relics or draw make the payoff easier to reach.

Orb-state checklist

Quadcast becomes a real draft target only after the deck can name the orb state it expects to cash out. Before that point, it is a speculative payoff competing with damage, block, and setup speed. Treat the card as safer when the deck already creates useful orb states in ordinary fights, not only during a perfect boss turn.

  • Take it when the deck already creates the orb state it wants to multiply.
  • Delay it when the current problem is surviving turns one and two.
  • Raise confidence when combat footage shows Quadcast solving a bad hand, not only a winning hand.

Bad-hand test

The best Quadcast evidence is a messy fight where the card still has a job. If the deck draws Quadcast before the orb engine is ready, the turn should still block, kill, or prepare a safe follow-up. If the card sits dead until the perfect setup, keep the tier note conservative.

Boss and route caveat

Bosses and elites decide whether a Defect payoff belongs in the deck now or later. Quadcast is easier to justify when the next route gives setup time, draw smoothing, or potion cover. It is riskier when the next fight asks for immediate output and the deck is still missing plain damage or block.

  • Use Act 1 routes to decide whether the payoff is early enough.
  • Use boss prep pages to check if setup turns are likely to be punished.
  • Prefer simple stabilizers when the route has no safe shop, upgrade, or potion buffer.

FAQ

Should Defect decks force Quadcast?

No. Pick it when the orb plan is already active; otherwise solve damage, block, and setup speed first.

When is Quadcast better than a plain damage card?

It is better when the deck already creates useful orb states and can survive the setup turn. If the next fight needs immediate output, a plain damage or block card is often safer.

What evidence would move Quadcast up the tier list?

Repeated current-patch runs where Quadcast solves non-perfect hands, beats elite or boss pressure, and works without rare support would justify a higher-confidence ranking.
